SAW CHAINS FOR
MECHANICAL HARVESTING

OREGON cutting chains for mechanical harvesting operations

The higher speeds and or feed forces (with attendant increased power input) typical of mechanical harvesting operations equate to faster cutting speeds. OREGON® has developed a series of cutting chains specifically designed for the demanding operating conditions experienced in these applications.

OREGON® 16H and 18H chains offer the cutting performance of a Micro chisel cutter providing the optimum balance between cutting speed, stay sharp and ease of maintenance.
  • Service life is enhanced by the use of a proprietary processing of the drive links that provides up to 20% increased resistance to breakage due to bending. This coupled with a controlled rivet joint and increased rivet joint strength leads to reduced chain breakage and increased safety.
  • The OREGON® LubriLink tie straps provide improved lubrication and increased resistance to tie strap flexing.
  • OREGON® 16H and 18H harvester chains are supplied with the depth gauge setting of 1.3mm (0.050") for increased cutting speed.

18H SPECIAL FEATURES

  • In addition to these common features OREGON® 18H has a 2.00mm drive link gauge offering up to 4 times the fatigue strength of conventional 0.404" pitch saw chains. This additional fatigue strength provides for improved safety and a longer service life. The increased surface area contact with the drive sprocket also reduces sprocket wear.

  • Multicut - OREGON® 18H features the Multicut chroming process. A special chroming process providing enhanced stay sharp properties without decreasing performance of the chains and leads to less down time attributable to changing and sharpening chains. Testing shows a 50-100% increase in the time between sharpening in normal cutting conditions.

  • Factory lubrication - The 18H chain receives it’s first lubrication as it is being assembled. The critical rivet bearing surfaces are lubricated right there in the factory at the assembly stage to give the chain a good start, reducing stretch and increasing service life.

  • Improved finish of the drive link rivet holes The OREGON® 18H harvester chain also features improved finish to the rivet holes in the drive links. This feature leads to noticeably less chain "stretch" and increased chain chassis life.

  • Improved LubriLink™ - The proven LubriLink™ feature has been imrpoved. The new shape of the LubriLink™ cavity increase the oil carrying capacity by 100% leading to improved chain lubrication at the critical rivet/drive link interface. This together with upgraded hole finish in the drive links leads to reduced chain stretch and a longer service life.

  • The service life, reliability and durability of OREGON® 18H chain are further enhanced by the addition of some 20% extra material on the underside of the chain chassis.

  • OREGON® 18H chain has a 2-1/2 times longer footprint on cutters and tie straps than conventional 0.404" pitch chains providing increased contact with the bar rails for better chassis and guide bar life.

  • The increased drive link gauge and offset depth gauge of OREGON® 18H chain provides greater stability in the cut and improved performance.
